Christian Advice to Public College/University Students ft. Andrea

Hi beautiful people!
Meet one of my FAV people on the planet earth!! This is one of my best friends Andrea – I asked her to share her tips on how she survives life at public college as a Christian, and here’s what she said 🙂

I make all of my videos for Jesus. I don’t know where I would be without Him.

Song in the outro:
Center of Your Love by Upper Room

While he was still far away, his Father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, threw his arms around him…[and said,] “let’s eat and celebrate! Because my son…was lost and has been FOUND.” Luke 15:20,23 ISV

You are loved,
-Becca

I’m starting uni in a month, and I’m seriously freaking out. I’m afraid that I might meet the wrong kind of people or I’m gonna hate the environment. I have a lovely church here at home where I’m a worship leader, and now going to another country, I haven’t found any church near my uni so I’m worried that I won’t even be able to attend a church. Idk how to survive without church, because all my best friends who I’m leaving behind are from church. How am I going to find the right group of people?

I absolutely love this video!!! I just started making some videos for college students as well, hoping to encourage them throughout this time in life when our faith is often tested. 🙂 So excited to watch your other videos as well! Just subscribed.

You can just see the pure love in Andrea’s heart. Thank you for the encouragement! It can be hard to be at a secular school, but I know there is purpose in it!

Just wanted to say that I absolutely adore your outro! I think it is such a sweet reminder and makes me smile when i hear it 🙂

I too got involved with CRU the first day I transferred to my four-year institution. I love it and I am on leadership at my campus. The first week, I was given the blessing of helping someone come to Christ. I know now that this is what God planned for me even though I wasn’t sure at the time. God bless you and your testimony!

Thank you for making this video! I got to a community college and classes start next week. I haven’t been motivated at all to go back but this has helped put things in perspective. I’m not so much excited for the crazy amounts of school work but to continue to meet new people and share the good news!

    I needed this video!

  20. hannahsundy on August 7, 2022 at 12:06 am

Yes yes yes! My story is very similar to Andrea’s and I can assure you that getting connected in a campus ministry and church is so important! I’ve been involved in church my whole life and can say it grew the most in college at a massive state university.

What’s the name of the song at the end??

  22. Lamorie W on August 7, 2022 at 12:07 am

Becca! I just wanna tell you I love watching your videos and your songs at the end of your videos always inspire me and give me a new worship song every time. I love you for that

  23. Contending for Truth on August 7, 2022 at 12:11 am

in our sinful nature, we’re nothing more than wretched, vile sinners in DIRE need of the Savior, but JESUS, the perfect and sinless Lamb of God, came into the world and took the punishment we deserved for our wicked sins and was raised from the dead three days after being buried so that we may have the opportunity of salvation, redemption, adoption, and reconciliation to the Heavenly Father. we ought to repent and believe in the Gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ; we must be born-again.

I’m a part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a small group leader at a community college. Listening this video, it speaks so much truth on how to be a Christian and spread the gospel in an area of uncomfortableness! Thank you so much ❤️

I can’t really relate to the video because this is about American schools. But this video is great for those that do live there though. Great tips she gives and good perspectives. Well done Andrea!

  29. Stephanie Solis on August 7, 2022 at 12:17 am

Hi!! Loved this video. I’m curious to know, what is Andrea studying? She mentioned being a missionary or something and I guess I always assumed that was ministry work. I myself am so conflicted right now because I feel called to ministry but don’t know exactly what, and have so much pressure from family telling me to continue in public college!

  30. Rebecca McLaren on August 7, 2022 at 12:18 am

You are such a bright testimony ♥️

My church group is very small, I don’t have any Christian friends apart from them but they’re not young people.
I’m not complaining because I am SO blessed in other ways. *But* I just noticed you said "we weren’t meant to walk alone"… yet I am. I always have done.. and I hate it 🙁
I try to walk with the Lord daily, but I think it’s so super important to have a Christian friend/group of friends to speak to about the Lord and to serve alongside. To encourage and build one another up.

I’ve been praying for so long now, I know God hears me and will either say yes or no to my request.. I am His child and He knows what’s best for me. I never ask to be prayed for, because God’s timing is perfect and He knows exactly where I am on His plan and which turn I’ll take next.
But I’m asking now, just because I feel so alone in a physical sense. Spiritually I know the Lord is with me always. But physically it’s always been just me. Please pray that the Lord might lead a young Christian into my life! I have so many things I’d love to share about God and what he’s done/is doing, but no one to share them with.

That video was so refreshing though, I’m so happy you two are friends! God bless you

Loved this video! Andrea did a great job. I am a freshman at a public university (a nursing major too) and I can attest to all of what she said, especially finding a Christian group on campus. Maybe you guys could do another video on how to get out of your comfort zone in discipling people on a college campus, how to lead people to Jesus, etc.

I’ve always been un a public school and it’s horrible

  33. Caitlin Janelle on August 7, 2022 at 12:24 am

I recently found your videos and I love your videos! I go to a small liberal arts college with about a 1,000 people. There are a lot of believers on my campus, but there are also a lot of people who don’t know Christ as well. I found this video to be very helpful. I tend to be shy and not want to spread the word of God, but I feel inspired to go and share the Word now with people. Thank you so much for making this video! Please continue to make these videos!! 🙂

Thank you so much for this encouragement. I’ve been struggling with the evangelizing, and hearing this has really confirmed what I feel God has been putting on my heart.

  36. Christina D. on August 7, 2022 at 12:28 am

Hey, Becca! I hope you are doing well in University 🙂 I’ve been struggling with this problem for a couple months, and so I wanted to ask you, how do you just keep your mind and heart on God during school, and stay connected to Him? I find it very difficult to do because there are so much distractions and temptations around me. I feel like I often lose that connection.

  37. Novi on August 7, 2022 at 12:29 am

I need some advice, ok so I know education isn’t bad, but I feel like I’m betraying God if I were to focus on my studies more than him? It’s like I want to spend all my day with Jesus everyday but I also don’t want to fail any of my classes, and in order for that not to happen I would need to spend hours studying and less time with Jesus. It’s about 3 months since I began my walk woth Jesus and so I’m still trying to understand. I’ve always been used to focusing on school 24/7 but now I find it hard balancing both. Is this wrong?

Thank you for this video. I’m currently searching for a college or university to go to and this video has given me peace of mind that whatever school God sends me to will not interfere with our relationship.

You are very inspirational! Can I reach out to you one day? I have very few friends that loves Jesus just like I do. I go to a public university and I know how you feel! Also, I’m studying nursing too!

I’ve been to public elementary school and highschool and I will be going to a public college starting this month and It’s been a learning experience and I thank God for taking care of me and watching over me throughout those years because He was always by my side and convicting me. This month I enter my first year of college, its a new opportunity to hopefully be able to share my faith. Pray for me to be directed and be used by God!
