Of course God still performs miracles but at the same time, we should not necessarily expect miracles to occur today just as they did in Bible times.

Miracles authenticate the messenger. That’s how we validate Jesus’ and the prophets’ messages. We now have sufficient scripture to hear God, and miracles have clearly ceased. This modern presentation of miracles seems to be people grasping at straws due to a lack of faith (?). Why should God answering prayer by providence or using natural circumstances to heal be any less amazing than fire and so-called tongues, etc? Why should Jesus and God revealed in His word not be enough for us when Paul says it is? Also, proof in the pudding. In today’s tech society it would be so easy to record a miracle on a phone or something, so where are they? Can God do miracles? Yeah of course, it’s in scripture, but why would He today when we have all we need? God does incredible things through His provident control of the universe, and miracles will clearly resume some day as shown in Revelation, but don’t go claiming we need signs and wonders to walk by faith today. Miracles also don’t cause unity in the church, serving one another and being in agreement on the truth of Scripture does. Last point: The Holy Spirit allows us to understand scripture and comforts us, so we don’t just dismiss His role in all of this. GotQuestions, I thought your stance was cessationist, so why are you promoting restorationist views? Cheers.

There are no coincidences, it’s called providence.
Divine providence is God working through natural means, a miracle is God working outside of natural means and laws.

I have no doubt that God can still preform miracles today since He did in the past. But I cant think of a single time in Scripture where God preformed miracles that were not plainly from him. And left no room for doubt. I dunno I mean salvation is a miracle from God so they obviously still happen. But I have never seen any miracles other than that.

before GOD worked GREAT SIGNS, MIRACLES, AND MIGHTY WORKS The Christians of the first century surrendered everything to the HOUSE OF GOD OR TO GOD HIMSELF. Please immitate CHRIST (John14:2-3)bring also the People To Church which is The House OF GOD here on earth. do not bring people to synagouges(mix with rich and Poor) for you only deceiving them. So they were called the House of Prayers.
so if we do not accept the fact that Acts 2 42 to 47; 4 32 to 37 , are part of GOD’S WILL that all Christians should do, these things Will happen to in your churches,
    2 Thessalonians 2: 9-10
    [9]
he, whose coming is according to the work of satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
    [10]
And with all deceit of unrighteousness to them that perish; for they received not the love of the Truth, that they might be saved.
    2 Thessalonians 2: 11-12
[11] And for this cause GOD shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the TRUTH, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

We therefore conclude that all the signs, wonders, and miracles, performed so far, are not from GOD because surrendering to GOD their all is not taught and practiced as Abraham did (Genesis 25 5). How GOD CAN MAKE all persons of disability be Whole if there is no House of GOD Which shall be called House of Prayers. GOD has permitted our enemy the devil with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all the deceit of unrighteousness to the perishing; for they received not the love of the TRUTH, that they might be saved. they are utterly deceived, who do not believe in the TRUTH, but are satisfied with iniquity.
woe to all of us if we prevent our GOD TO Perform SIGNS, WONDERS, AND MIRACLES.
we should obey first then GOD WILL DO HIS POWERFUL WORKS.

Oh please Got Questions, please don’t move away from cessationism! I appreciate your ministry so much but I do not agree the apostolic gifts are still in place.

Like when Lighting struck down the George Floyd mural right down the middle to the ground that the media was getting children to worship him?

We shouldn’t confuse divine providence with a miracle.

  11. JS on May 29, 2022 at 9:33 pm

I consider it– in my depraved, sin-nature state– that it’s a miracle that God allows me to have breath day in and day out.

  12. Robert McNamara on May 29, 2022 at 9:35 pm

First, anyone asking this question should first define in their own mind what constitutes a miracle. To me every time someone breaks addiction, resists sexual temptation, understands the scripture with little, or no college, while those with phd’s cannot is a bonified miracle from God simply because these things cannot be done without God. If one truly understands the curse of sin, and Man’s fallen nature, one understands that any break from the slavery of sin is just as much a miricle as Christ raising the dead. Also keep in mind that when Christ was on Earth many witnessed his miracles, but still did not believe. Even more incredibly, some did believe Jesus was the Messiah after seeing his miracles, but loved the World too much to give it up for him. Miracles are not all they are cracked up to be. At the end of a person’s life the only miracles that matter are justification, and sactification. God bless.
