I’ve been to a few Christian churches & they all pass the plate around. The only church that i know of that doesn’t ask for money is the Jehovahs Witnesses they run off of donations only & they do really well.

Tithing is not a NT mandate – giving as the Lord has prospered is what Paul teaches – that could be more than 10% or less –
I Cor. 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Why do you need a building to talk to God? Stop going to that building!

  6. Irene on May 28, 2019 at 12:37 pm

Charity begins at home. Unless you have yourself sorted out you are no good to anyone else and trying to help another with something you are struggling with yourself will be your further undoing. Dave’s advice to push back is correct, although I’d take it a step further and say find a new church (I’m not a churchgoer myself, religion is quite illogical to me and I am suspicious of those who make a living from it, but each to their own).

This is EXACTLY what Protestants ran from coming to America and escaping the Church of England/catholic church. Amazing to see it alive and well in America today. Extorting people of their money by way of religion… Just disgusting.. I do just fine worshiping God from my home.

    Quit the cult bro

  9. JVIPER88 on May 28, 2019 at 12:41 pm

What a scam…. If they need money, ask the Vatican to sell one of the pieces of artwork they stole and give them the cash.

  10. Chump Johnson on May 28, 2019 at 12:42 pm

Sounds like a mega church to me

I think I’d stop going to that church.

    Time to call an auditor

  14. Land Lord on May 28, 2019 at 12:48 pm

10% is hardly mentioned in New Testament tough, wake up. If you will follow Old Testament, then you cant pick only 10% rule, but all thing(stoning adultares…all).

  15. jwebby85 on May 28, 2019 at 12:48 pm

If you are a full time pastor and your salary is paid by the church, you should not be living above the average income of your congregation. if your average church goer makes $45,000, The people should help provide a living for their pastor. They are not obligated to give enough to help you pay for your $500,000 house and your fleet of BMW’s. If your church is full of super successful doctors and lawyers who live that way, by all means. But pastor’s should live above the average income of the church goer. Not if the church is their full time income.

Jesus says I need a new jet give me money

  17. kwg2005 on May 28, 2019 at 12:50 pm

I thought the tithe was from old testament law.

  18. Historys Glare on May 28, 2019 at 12:50 pm

I would just leave the church

  19. Player One on May 28, 2019 at 12:52 pm

Modern day Christianity: "Jesus did away with the law!"……"We’ll now pass around the offering plate." They’re not asking you to "offer," they’re telling you to "tithe." My parent’s were stupid enough to allow a church, that we went to when I was a child, to see tax returns, because the church required it, so they could tell you how much you had to give them every Sunday. And if you missed church one Sunday, you had to give double the following Sunday. It was that, or you weren’t allowed to attend.

  20. Arlene Augusta on May 28, 2019 at 12:53 pm

I tithes my time to people in need. I’m not going to church consistently because it’s not how I want to tithe.

  21. eatme on May 28, 2019 at 12:55 pm

people shouldn’t tithe until they’re out of baby step 2 — especially since there technically is no god (how do i know? babies born with cancer!)

  22. M. on May 28, 2019 at 12:57 pm

Your "Church" should be your home….learn from the Amish….they use their own homes as their church.

  23. Daisy Girl on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

We will meet with God whether we want to or not. He loves us whether we want Him to or not. Surrender to Him. You won’t regret it.

  24. frany killo on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

Wow, following Jesus is expensive! Makes me wonder whether he and Judas were both in on the betrayal and they were going to split the 30 pieces of silver.
Dave generally can see through a scam, maybe he does but goes along with the bible nonsense due to the fact that he makes serious money out of FPU and the church are his number 1 distributors….. Clever.

Sorry Jesus, no money for you and your child abusing buddies in my budget

  25. JC Tutoring on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

The church is notorious for manipulating its congregation into ‘tithing’ and if you refuse claim that you don’t have “enough faith.” Some will even go as far as to say that you’re STEALING from God. It’s absolutely outrageous.

  26. Jeremy Edgar on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

I’m a pastor, and that church is in the wrong. Give what you can. Sounds like the church is either mismanaged or they have a bad theology problem.

  27. Holly B on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

How to say “No” to a church (or anyone else): NO

  28. Code Seven on May 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm

This is why I don’t go to church.

  29. King Koopa on May 28, 2019 at 1:01 pm

im gonna go to church and instead of put money in the offering tray ill grab a handful. its jesus’ will

  30. Richard Jimenez on May 28, 2019 at 1:01 pm

They could just say nothing. I doubt the church is going to each person for money. He’s way overthinking this.

  31. Bradley Ostmann on May 28, 2019 at 1:02 pm

Nothing wrong with going to church, but i would question if this is the church you should be going to. When the request is ruin your life to better someone else’s, they have clearly lost their way

  32. Nina Travis on May 28, 2019 at 1:02 pm

I bet they are COGIC. Sounds like it.

  33. Rob Hull on May 28, 2019 at 1:04 pm

Tithing is not a scriptural doctrine under the new testament

  34. tito hall on May 28, 2019 at 1:05 pm

"Dig deeper and believe that God will take care of you."

There must be a LOT of disappointed people at his church.

  35. IG:Chadmiami on May 28, 2019 at 1:08 pm

Definitely need to go to a different church

  36. Jenn D on May 28, 2019 at 1:08 pm

Is this church Scientology? They’re good at that schtick.

  37. Larry Fine on May 28, 2019 at 1:08 pm

In the Mormon church the more you tithe the higher your status. A friend on mine was removed from certain status simply because he couldn’t financially keep giving. Very disturbing if you ask me. When Jesus said " on this rock I will build my church" I don’t recall him asking for money.

  38. Jim Roscovius on May 28, 2019 at 1:09 pm

    Just say no.

  39. TstormVA2012 on May 28, 2019 at 1:10 pm

I left a church for that reason.

  40. Growing in Grace on May 28, 2019 at 1:14 pm

Couldn’t agree more! This problem is rampant with churches, has been so for decades that I know of, and people are guilt-tripped/shamed to the extent that they don’t feel comfortable talking about it. They don’t want to be troublemakers, so they suffer silently.

  41. 3rd Gunman on May 28, 2019 at 1:17 pm

Sounds like he goes to that church that Damon Wayons and Jim Carrey used to do…HAHAHA!
The Reverend Ed Cash & Dr. Carl Pathos.

  42. TaggsR85 on May 28, 2019 at 1:19 pm

I don’t like that type of church! That’s disgusting. 10 % should be enough!

  43. Drew NYC on May 28, 2019 at 1:21 pm

The church is the biggest scam. They are worse than debt collectors.

This very thing about The Money! The Money & The Money is why I quit organized religion!Seemed like they were more interested in the money as opposed to ME or even other people ( unless the others were able to pay & pay & pay!)

  46. gkbluestocking on May 28, 2019 at 1:22 pm

Leave immediately. I am only a few min in and outraged. Someone there is stealing. If not a group of them.

  48. Fresh Mann on May 28, 2019 at 1:24 pm

Speak the truth Dave. Very inappropriate for them to insist their agenda on your finances. As a man, your home is your first ministry(.) Any preacher that uses the word to supersede other parts of the word,is corrupt.
