Radical islam would just love this bill. It could open a door to allowing muslims to parallel lives in secluded no go areas as they do in Europe. Just because of "religious freedom" does that mean muslims can live according to sharia law because living according to secular "infidel" law is a "violation of their religious tenets"? What if it was reversed and a muslim shop refused to serve women, and somehow justified it with their faith (and for crying out loud, with islam you know it can be). What about the muslim employee working for a beer company and then refuses to deliver beer as it conflicts with their faith? Is that "religious freedom". No its not, you sign up for a job, you consent to its requirements. Individual faith is irrelevant for laws in a secular society, you either fit in and consent to secular law or find a theocracy that suits you better. Religious freedom refers to a right to free exercise of faith, but not to deny someone of something, based on a characteristic they didn’t choose. Your personal faith relates to an inculcation of an accepted moral code within members of that particular faith, not those outside of it. If you want to live in a civilized society, then we need an objective standard for law, not a theological one.

This is infomercial is quite deceptive. It’s not serving LGBT that’s the issue, most religious people have no issues there. The issue is that the Government is forcing a religious people to violate their beliefs and participate (by providing goods and/or services) for what they see as a sacrilegious ceremony. If they refuse, even for religious reasons they face harsh criminal/financial penalties. It’s just as discriminatory as denying LGBT marriage. More so if you consider the penalties.

I’m all for LGBT rights, and for the freedom of being able to practice your religion in peace. I don’t like that businesses get shut down, people lose their job and they are harassed because they say it’s against my religion to serve you. it’s wrong to deny them because they are gay but on the other hand they have the right to religious freedom. it’s a difficult subject

Freedom of religion means no one can discriminate against you because of your religion. It doe NOT mean you are free to discriminate against other because of your religion.

Here’s something from a Christian perspective. Put yourself in the position of a church staff member. You were raised your whole life taught that homosexuality in any form is a sin no better than murder. Now you are being forced to marry two homosexuals. This is like being forced to kill someone. What do you do? Just close down the church? Your religious freedom has been destroyed and your forced to sin. Let it sink in for a while.

Wedding services aren’t public accommodations. They are basic things like food, water. clothing, lodging. Gays have jumped the shark by trying to apply these to more extensive services or forcing people to participate in events, or things that have artistic expression.

This bill is indeed fighting for rights.

    The right to discriminate.
