When the New Testament mentions the last days and the end, the context is the end of the Mosaic covenant that had been around for 1,500 years.
We know this is true because John tells the Christians in the first century that they were living in the LAST HOUR. 1 John 2 : 18 "Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour."
We know this is true because Peter told Christians in the first century, "The end of all things is near." 1 Peter 4 : 7
In the first century they were experiencing the end of the Mosaic covenant. It was the last hour of the Mosaic covenant. In 70 AD Jesus had the Roman army destroy Jerusalem and the temple to bring an end to the Mosaic covenant.
We have been in the end times since the Holy Spirit filled the believers on Pentecost. Then, the rebirth of Israel was a major last day fulfillment.
