Joy

In this video, we explore the unique type of joy to which God’s people are called. It’s more than happy mood, but rather a choice to trust that God will fulfill his promises.

Joy has to be a byproduct of faith, similar to “elpis” kind of hope…

He is the joy of the world

I have been a Christian for over 20 years. I am still waiting for it to live up to its promises. I understand why people leave the faith.

I am a Christian and never had Christian joy.

Joy: a choice to trust Jesus, despite hardships.
    That’s a definition I want to remember.

I like how so many people only want to hear what they want to hear raher than Gods’ words

  14. @jaimiejin7992 on May 14, 2025 at 9:24 pm

Thank you for delivering this message and this is such a powerful message to understand. Before I became Christian, I always wondered why Christians are full of joy. Now I get it, it’s because we’re always full of hope, faith and joy. We are grateful for everything we have today, and if there’s darkness and sorrow in our life, we believe tomorrow will be better. We believe in God’s power and God’s promise. We’re always joyful bathing in God’s love.

I define biblical ‘hope’ as the confident expectation of a good outcome… I have adopted the theological definition of ‘joy’ offered by Dr. Michael Heiser as a divinely inspired optimism for the future…

I have just realised that all these things in the world, food, achievements, money, social media only mask the pain, but Jesus is the cure to our pain.

Being a Christian only means I would not be sent to a place worse than the life I am living now. That does not give me joy. It means until my death, I am on my own with no love or help from God.

Joy, unlike happiness, is a state of being. It is not determined by the circumstances you endure, ie trials and tribulations, it is centered on the hope of a finished new creation and new humanity. That’s why my family chose joy during the times we have walked in the chaos that surrounded us. We will not be overcome, but we will choose to dwell in joy because of the promises of Yahweh!

In my many years as a Christian, I have not paid attention to joy and have given into trying to fix things my way. Lately though, through a Christian book club I have learned how important it is to focus on my joy with the Lord in spite of many trials I am going through. I have to say it has helped me so much to literally shift my thinking from doom and gloom to joy in a matter of seconds my worries and anxiety lifts and my perspective of the situations changes for the better. Thank you Bible Project for helping us all get closer to these concepts that are hard to grasp. My husband and I donate to you guys every month and I can’t believe I haven’t watched them as often as I should. Much love and blessings to your ministry.

I don’t get it, I’m Christian and I’m always miserable no matter the circumstances

  39. @salauerman7082 on May 14, 2025 at 10:04 pm

    Joy is an attitude.
Is it possible to have joy without positive anticipation?
    I think not.

  40. @TheCreepypro on May 14, 2025 at 10:06 pm

may our joy arise from the faith and hope our Lord has given us! may we rejoice in Him daily!
