What It Means to Love God With "All Your Heart"
Different cultures have different conceptions of the human heart, what it is and what it does, and the biblical authors are no exception. In this video, we’ll explore the ancient Hebrew words for “heart” as well as the different ideas of what our hearts represent. There is no biblical word that captures better the essence of human thought, feeling, and desire than this rich and wonderful word.

It’s a good video but I’m not sure how to handle this in practice… My heart has been broken so much by the disappointments/failures of my life & not receiving any help from God, I dont think I can love him with all my heart anymore
I don’t think at least some of what they speak regarding the heart seems strange to us. We still to this day very often speak of the heart as the emotional portion of our being, and regularly use phrases like "being broken hearted," and "having a heart of gold," etc.
Does anyone else feel that something is just slightly off about the Protestant and non-denominational churches we go to? I go a a large non denominational church called CBC in San Antonio TX. It’s hard to point out exactly where or why, I’ve been to a few different churches, it just feels like it’s not the fullness of truth of what church it is supposed to be for the Christian. It feels like it’s all a partial truth. I’m not sure if I’m alone in feeling this, I’m not referring to Christianity, I believe fully in the finished work of the cross, I’m referring just to the church and how we go about learning sound doctrine.

I learned what it means to ‘circumcise your heart’. Your heart has a ring of very hard chalky fat sitting around the top of it. If someone is proud they are seeking to enlarge themselves over others. The easiest way to enlarging oneself is done putting on fat So if fat symbolizes pride then circumcising ones heart means to humble oneself and cutting pride from your heart. It makes so much sense! This revelation is one my most cherished answers to my prayers for understanding. I hope it blesses others as it has blessed me.

I also have been pondering this, as I composed a piano solo 3 years ago (released December 2021) called "Each Heart" about the joy that every living thing will feel when the Savior reigns on the earth for 1,000 years.

In a fictional setting of my own creation, there is a notion that people have 2 hearts: a physical one that powers the body like a battery, and a metaphysical one that processes emotion. Now that I’m thinking of it, they might have a similar concept for the brain – one a physical, functional one, and a metaphysical one for spiritual experience. As if the organs themselves have souls?

Fun fact, in chinese, lots of words that describe human emotions are described as attributes of the heart, much more than in English. Ex. "Happy" Or "cheerful" is 開心 literary "open heart", "cautious" or "careful" is 小心 "small heart", "psychology" is 心理 "study of the heart", 玻璃心 "glass heart" is someone who gets upset very easily.
