The Bible is hyper focused on having God be central, and self last. There is a real dangerous ideology being pushed on Christian’s that is self focused and not Bible based. I’m not suggesting we go around feeling pouty and negative.
Thanks for this. You hit the nail on the head. Intellectually, I knew some of these, but I guess… time? I needed time to fully digest it but I never really understood it. I despise myself, but the Lord loves me, which really is incomprehensible. It’s grace. It’s awesome, but it does take time to slowly digest it.
Thanks again for speaking words that are close to my thoughts. Sometimes, hearing it from other people or strangers really help. Especially the words “sometimes self-love is denying yourself of short term pleasures” (paraphrasing).
It’s a work in progress, but it’s now dawning on me that the Christian walk truly is a continuous journey. Sometimes is daunting and sometimes is hopeful.

I want to be upset with myself because I skipped over this video a few times when it popped up. But when I’m at home and there’s nothing to do those thoughts we play in my mind. My mind tries to take me back to where I used to be and how I used to think before. I really got into Christ. I cannot allow myself to be neglected, to neglect myself, or want to harm myself and those around me. Thank you for this. I really mean it. You really don’t know the impact that you’re making and this is something I’m going to have to come back to to keep reminding myself that God loves me and even though I don’t deserve it, Christ was willing to die for me.
