How to Deal With Loneliness

How to Deal With Loneliness

It is getting harder for good people to find compatible companionship in this day and age. Especially for young people who are looking for a mate. You cannot always find the match that you were looking for, but you don’t always need to.

For most of my life I was chasing for a place to belong – a place to fit in. When I was 12, my family immigrated to Canada. Here I was in a foreign place that I knew nothing about – I had a fair bit of english but my accent was as if I was spoken a different language. Two years go by, and my family took a vacation back to the homeland – unsurprisingly, no one wanted to see me anymore. Moved on and told myself, it’s time to make friends in Canada. Took me about 12 years to TRY fitting in, I joined clubs, sports, classes, events, you name it, I tried it. Heck I even tried choir, can’t even sing ABC in tune. Taught a friend to drive, he bought a car after passing his test – then i never heard from him again, never even sat in his car once. Couple years go by, and just today, I found out a group of friends had gathered to celebrate a friends baby shower, 99% of people I knew in high school were invited, people they barely knew was also invited, part of me thought…..am I really that difficult to be friends with, am I weird? But then…. I realized how much solitude I had when I did things alone. Going out alone, shopping alone, eating alone, somehow after all that, maybe I enjoy the solitude. In life people come and go, but never let your sanity tell you that enjoying your own company is a bad idea.

After typing all of that, i realized the top comment from @divafever9754 says "I used to think the worst thing in life is to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone." ~ Robin Williams

And that is probably the best way to describe this realization. Maybe… I would rather do things alone than to be around people who make me feel alone…

im still a young kid. i moved into a completely new environment and deal with the feeling of loneliness that never goes away, im around people i don’t really like. It feels impossible to leave them, i have this gut feeling that they’re just being performative towards me whenever i speak to them, because they don’t come up to me first. i cry almost every night about this because i care too much about what others felt about me. im currently just sobbing trying to comfort myself by watching this.. 😛

i desperately hope that things will change and i’ll get used to being alone, it feels like a conversation rather than a video

The problem is the wide spread use of pornography and dating apps. Leading up to the epidemic men would discard us and try to recreate their favourite porn fantasy. In addition, the internet has made men think they can get some one better looking all the time. So, us women have backed off I m currently a recluse and spend my time between work and backyard. The internet has ruined civilization.

I am 32 and feel alone 90% of the time. Thanks to social media, I it is really hard to hang out with people anymore because most people (1) just want to text-not talk. (2) nobody actually wants to do things anymore, even during social gatherings everyone just stays on their phones. It is just extremely hard to build relationships with people who cannot get off the phone.

Ur right bout to sleep with someone I’ve done all that casually it doesn’t work

  19. @southernexposure123 on August 19, 2025 at 12:38 am

Some people grieve for people who can’t tolerate being alone.
Some people grieve for people who prefer being alone.
When people want to be alone leave them alone.
Depending on the occupants a house / life can feel 100 times more lonely with someone there than being there alone.

  20. @bobicrni1284 on August 19, 2025 at 12:39 am

Life is too hard to go through it alone. Stop romanticizing loneliness, im feel lonely for the most of my life and its not doable. You be strong and live sad, pathetic life while others have fucking EVERYTHING. I cant do this shit anymore.

  24. @ВиталийСлонов-ч4ъ on August 19, 2025 at 12:47 am

I find this video to be like a good book that you dip in and out of.
I really could have done with this kind of advice when I was much younger.
    Thank you, sir.

  25. @Cryptic_Keeper on August 19, 2025 at 12:50 am

I don’t know how to feel about the advice. When physicality, it’s easy to say. When you got it yourself, you know what I mean then again?I understand your point of view. Also I wanna say it’s pretty cool. You’re speaking about hermetic law with the pendulum metaphor I use that myself the pendulum must swing

  26. @andreasherrmann2573 on August 19, 2025 at 12:51 am

As of 2 years since this video was released, over 5.7 million people have viewed it. Most of them are men, people just like you and me, from different ages, backgrounds, and places, who have either searched for this or clicked on it out of curiosity. We must remember that behind every view is a real person, each quietly facing their own loneliness and looking for a little connection.

  27. @jakemcmillian3475 on August 19, 2025 at 12:52 am

Easy for you talk you no idea what being us feels like bs try never even giving a chance bet you never a virgin in your 30s once again easy people like u to preach most guys like me question why we where born

  28. @judementz-gibbons6730 on August 19, 2025 at 12:53 am

Men are born of women. I cannot understand how women can celebrate the loneliness and suicide of men. That’s plain deranged. And goes against the natural inner nurturing nature of womanhood. Femininity is strong and soft hearted when needed. It’s beautiful and compliments men. We all should be kind to each other and not take our hurts and prejudices out on each other. The world has gone mad. Love each other – if we cannot do that then lest ‘do no harm’. Loneliness is the pits. We all need companionship. I like my company. But know that being alone for a month with no human contact nearly sent me crazy – and I am a loner. Include people who are lonely. The truth is – is mental torture after some time.
