In Genesis Chapter 5, the family line from Adam to Noah is traced. There’s a message contained in the meanings of each of the names in this genealogy: Adam (man), Seth (appointed), Enosh (mortal), Kenan (sorrow), Mahalalel (the blessed God), Jared (shall come down), Enoch (teaching), Methuselah (His death shall bring), Lamech (the despairing), and Noah (rest or comfort).

Aroodawakening says that the jars were from the writings of the Pharisee. So it was extra stuff man made rules. As the Torah says do not add to or take away from what God commanded. And so he made their jars of made up rules unclean according to their own rules. What do you think?

The name of Capernaum means Village of Nahum (the prophet). The prophet’s name means comfortable. So it can be translated as Comfortable Village. But it was named after the prophet.

It says the Mother of Jesus, not the virgin Mary. Did she stay a virgin her whole life?

The third day in week, is Tuesday for the Jews. Many weddings happen in Israel on the day of double blessing (Tuesday)

12min in talking about Jesus turning water to wine. My thinking was that Mary had asked Jesus to do it and His response was what is was, but then Mary said to the servants that they should do whatever Jesus said they should do. Basically, Jesus, let your will be done, not mine. Thats how I thought about it.

Such a beautiful miracle! I’ve always seen the clay pots as symbols of us (MEN and WOMEN)—earthen vessels made from dust, empty and set aside for purification. Jesus filled them with water, like His Word, but it wasn’t until He turned it to wine—symbolic of His Spirit and blood—that the true transformation happened. It reminds me of how He baptizes with the Holy Ghost and fire. What a picture of the new covenant and the joy of the wedding feast to come.

  28. @TyConnor-x1d on August 5, 2025 at 12:49 am

A thought I am having.. no research.

Weren’t Jewish weddings typically on Tuesdays (The Third Day from Sabbath) then the Water -> Wine miracle was on the 3rd day of the wedding (Friday). If so, This is further symbolism of the crucifix as Jesus was on the cross on Good Friday shedding his blood and purifying mankind.

Interested to see other comments and perspectives on this.

Weddings in that culture go many days long. I thought it was the third day of the wedding.

  30. @amyrussell860 on August 5, 2025 at 12:50 am

I had historically learned that Jesus did this to honor his mother e.g. hospitality was very important and running out of wine was a bad thing/embarrassing. I appreciate the affirmation and being able to learn about it more in-depth e.g. stone jars were used for purification ceremonies and how that comes into play.
It may not have had anything to do with his hour directly, but he also took the time to address a human concern. It helps me remember that my requests aren’t too big, small or trivial.

  31. @davidcampos9768 on August 5, 2025 at 12:52 am

Great content . Only comment is the writers of the new testament don’t name Mary’s mother as "virgin Mary" everytime she’s in a story so I think let’s follow that tradition rather. Let’s try and be consistent with the patterns of the actual people who wrote these things.

  32. @biaberg3448 on August 5, 2025 at 12:53 am

“The third day” is easy to explain. They called the days in the week , day one, day two etc. Day 3 was our Tuesday. They preferred to have weddings on this day, because God blessed it twice in Gen 1. So the text just says: On Tuesday there was a wedding….

  33. @stevend8785 on August 5, 2025 at 12:53 am

What’s interesting to me is the wedding guests had already consumed the wine. They were already buzzed. They wanted more wine and the Lord gave it to them. God can relate to and accept intoxication. The miracles and parables always have both a literal and inferred meaning.

  34. @twistedlimb4053 on August 5, 2025 at 12:53 am

The miracle at Cana was the first sign, not miracle, different greek word and Jesus had been doing miracles prior to this,

  35. @gameprofcaa on August 5, 2025 at 12:54 am

There’s no biblical commandment to wash your hands. The "rites of purification" is a Pharisaic invention. So when Jesus performs this miracle, he’s really simultaneously providing a takedown of the Pharisee’s traditions while demonstrating that his Blood will be the only thing that purifies. This idea of consuming something to symbolize shows up in the Exodus when Moses had those who worshipped the calf at the foot of the mountain drink the burnt ashes indicating their internal spirit of rebellion & sin. Conversely, our symbolic consumption of Christ’s blood (as wine) is also a physical manifestation of an unseen spiritual union.

  36. @richardross119 on August 5, 2025 at 12:56 am

    1) is Jesus obedient to his mother?
    2) Is ut his mothers faith that stirs Jesus

  42. @shawnkloosterman7691 on August 5, 2025 at 12:59 am

Dionysus (god of wine) . Turned water into wine. This “miracle” was not original to Jesus. The story of turning water into wine is older than Christianity.
My opinion – it’s the first “miracle” mentioned in John 1 because most people could relate to people drinking and enjoying wine. The author is attempting to align with its readers – get their attention so they continue reading.

  43. @davidbullock289 on August 5, 2025 at 1:02 am

I don’t know if they said it or not because I’m writing this during the middle, but the wine would not be tainted by the fall of the Earth. That’s why it was so good and also because Jesus made it.

  44. @kalepoV18 on August 5, 2025 at 1:04 am

Your enthusiasm for the lord is what will draw the body of christ here. Scripture will leave them with substance forever. Stay encouraged brothers, love to see the holy spirit move.

  45. @Mrmomm on August 5, 2025 at 1:06 am

    Baby christian here:

Who’s to say it wasn’t sleight of hand, like something David Blaine might do, or maybe just a story that’s been stretched over time? Turning water into wine the way it’s described isn’t really possible. I don’t think that passage was meant to be taken literally.

  46. @land_banes2639 on August 5, 2025 at 1:08 am

It is also showing how Jesus have high respect to His Mother by making water into wine even if it wasnt "His time" yet because its his Mother’s request He obeyed His Mom.
