Yes! Spot on!! I am amazed my the level of intimacy I feel when I’m with others who I’m with on the same mission, God’s mission, to further the kingdom!! As a single, I feel so very connected and contented when I’m looking to Jesus and seeking to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandments. It can be so overwhelmingly amazing, though I still have a desire for a man to serve God with.

In your season of singleness, serve the Lord!

I know he didn’t have much time to answer the question, but I wish he had included a statement of sympathy for people in this situation. I think it’s easy for someone who found a mate at a young age to be dismissive of how hard it is to wait for something you long for. It’s not just a spouse but children, a family, a support network. So it’s important to see where single people are coming from and not be dismissive of their hurt. BUT I do agree with him that we need to seek the kingdom first. And we need to thank God for the gifts we enjoy as singles: more freedom, less distraction, worry, and burdens. The waiting produces patience and trust in God. So it’s a beautiful thing.

Did this guy really just compare Christian marriage to kobe and shaq

  8. Star Raider on May 28, 2019 at 12:39 pm

I don’t even want to be married anymore these girls are trash now

  9. C on May 28, 2019 at 12:39 pm

Ladies, the church has lied to us about marriage. We’re told to “wait” for some perfect guy to ride in on a white horse. He. Doesn’t. Exist. We are told God will make it happen and anything you do to try and make it happen, is a sin. I call bullshit. If you have a desire to get married, go for it! God gave us our desires, there is NO shame and NOTHING WRONG with wanting someone to spend your life with! And don’t take advice from married men, I refuse to listen to a dude who probably got married at 21, tell women what God wants for us. Church-STOP SHAMING SINGLE WOMEN INTO BEING ALONE!!! I’m not going to listen to this because as soon as I heard the “but…”I knew immediately he thinks he needs to discourage women from wanting something wonderful and holy. Yes, HOLY. Why would you ever discourage anyone from a desire God put in your heart? That’s what the enemy does and I’m not playing for his team. It’s very funny to me that Francis Chan of all people, is most likely discouraging this girl from wanting to share her life with someone. Especially if you heard how he begged God that this guy HE liked, would marry his daughter!!! The hypocrisy is mind blowing!!!
Married people, you have zero authority to speak this discouragement into anyone’s life! Stop.

Love Francis Chan, But… I feel like this lady’s question got dodged To promote his book. But I also think it’s awesome. The book I mean

I’m still struggling with this! I’m almost 28, im still a virgin, and I have never dated! My sexual feelings for women are getting stronger and stronger as time goes on, and I’m sick of waiting! It’s easy to say put the Lord first, but that’s not going to change the fact that some days, the sexual urges are going to hit strong! I’m on the verge of giving up!

  13. Burnt Toast on May 28, 2019 at 12:42 pm

Be like Jesus, it’s that simple.

  14. Miranda Taylor on May 28, 2019 at 12:42 pm

I think it’s hard when you grew up with no family and have never experienced the love that the Bible talks about. I have put Jesus first but the loneliness is hurtful to someone who always desired children or someone to take care of. It’s clear that my happiness is not a factor, really hard to accept most days.

Single Christians don’t waste your time going to church. You’ll be treated like a 2nd class citizen. Made to feel inferior because you are not "complete" in god’s eyes. Go out and explore the world.

literally changed my life.My heart is full.I used to look at marriage the Goal.Serving God and living my purpose in him is the goal. Now if I get married or not is not the goal.Getting the gospel out should be my focus all else will work out if it should. The gospel is first.

Last week I was discussing with one of my friends after I read 1 Timothy, because I felt singles were discriminated while Paul talked about qualifications of overseers and deacons. I feel I am left out in church as 40+ yrs single woman with no kids while everyone gets a family and has some sort of family life

  33. Oni Dj on May 28, 2019 at 12:58 pm

Singleness is the best season for being available and flexible in ministry world

  34. Isaiah Askew on May 28, 2019 at 12:58 pm

My advice for single christians is get castrated… its better to RIP OUT your testicles than to be single too long and sweep through years of temptation and thrown to hell.

  35. Chrispine Mukosha on May 28, 2019 at 12:59 pm

Thanks for this video! Portraying what is more important,God’s kingdom not just the behaviour of I love you and not caring where you will be after this life.

marry a man, its in the biblical not my feelings??? so is he saying gay marriage is ok with him? when bible says other wise?

  40. Julianna Capinera on May 28, 2019 at 1:09 pm

Aside from the not-so-subtle dig at our LGBTQ brothers and sisters in the beginning of the video, I couldn’t agree more about focusing on discipleship. I have focused on my personal ministries for 10 years now, even through two long-term relationships that didn’t make it to marriage, and so many people have told me that I made the right decision to not marry if it wasn’t a right fit, and just focus on my ministries instead. A lot of people I know jumped into marriage and children and are now voicing regrets. Though I had wanted to be married a long time ago, I know I did the right thing for me by waiting and focusing on discipleship instead.

  41. Jack Jones on May 28, 2019 at 1:16 pm

Very interesting points he makes here about an overemphasis, at times towards, marriage versus fulfilling the great commission as the primary purpose of Christians.

    This is it dude! Wisdom.

  43. Mishkola on May 28, 2019 at 1:17 pm

I’m a single guy, but I have some insight.

First, make sure you are out serving the Lord and doing it out of love for God and for your neighbor.

Second, look around at your fellow servants. This is your recruitment pool.

EDIT: Now that I’ve watched the video, I couldn’t agree with Francis more.

  44. Johanna Gonzalez on May 28, 2019 at 1:17 pm

    Wow… thank you Francis !

  45. kathleen Wharton on May 28, 2019 at 1:20 pm

The same advice you should Give everyone. Seek Jesus FIRST and HIS Righteousness. Do not seek men’s opinions in the bible..or out.

  46. Tony Rowan on May 28, 2019 at 1:20 pm

While it is true singles have more freedom to serve God the church is too easily letting married believers off the hook! Just because Paul says the married man and woman are divided on how to please their spouse doesn’t mean that they can do anything for God! Why do 20% of church congregations do 80% of the work? And who does most of the work? The married old timers! Why? The 80% of the people are too busy doing the really important work: watching the NFL games, tailgate parties, and social entertainment! Young marrieds and singles a like! Don’t give me this crap about singles are freed up to serve God when neither group are! The American churches are full of lazy, worldly slackers!!
