This reminded me of what I went through 31 years ago when I was terminated from my job.

Fortunately, they just did induct Pete Rose into the MLB Hall of Fame. Better late, than never, I guess.
It was nice to see the *US* flag hanging in the classroom. Those were the days. ❤

I’m going to say it like this even though I didn’t keep my job and um yeah, I wasn’t meant to God. God has his purpose for all of us to do whatever in our lives that he needs us to do. Sometimes those jobs are hard, except those they’re easy. That’s sometimes easy as now is the best. And sometimes our jobs last a month, sometimes God has us be there for our entire lives. It’s what God sees that we need to be and do and even though I was only at that teaching job for 8 months, in that 8 months, I was able to really help several kids. And that’s what mattered God had me there at the right time for the right reason. There’s a lot I could say, but I won’t God bless you all

I might have said as I walked out: "I may not be allowed on school property, but you all are allowed to visit me in the sports card shop."

Interesting movie, teaching students to think and appreciate each other. Sometimes people go through things that others don’t know about and aren’t aware of, but when spoken out loud, it helps people understand why they say things or react the way they do. With conversation and opening up comes understanding. They have laws with hefty fines and punishments against discrimination yet they discriminate against those that share their faith or belief or want to pray for someone! America stands for freedom of speech, yet they turn on those speaking and sharing faith. It’s interesting that they ban a teacher from teaching in school for speaking about God yet they never changed what the school stands for as he mentioned on the way out the door! This movie also shows how much diversity is in the students lives in a classroom. Morals, manners and respect were strict and part of raising children, but with the cost of living and both parents working, sometimes 2-3 jobs to feed and put a roof over the family, they spend less time teaching these things. It’s sad but true. Too much input from social media doesn’t help either! Yes we need to move ahead but we should still be teaching our children how to respect and not talk down to those around us but to be uplifting and encouraging others!

What I’d like to see is the effects on the live of these young people.

  14. @MamaKalash on July 21, 2025 at 12:14 am

It’s sad, knowing that these kids are some day going to face the same issues at their jobs, and have bosses like those teachers.

The movie was thought=provoking and very good, but I did not get the title: Potluck Teacher. The title should have been something better like: "The teacher who made students THINK!!!" This movie had a profound message that teachers and parents NEED TO HEAR!

  21. @lisagraves3873 on July 21, 2025 at 12:28 am

One of the absolute best movies I’ve seen in a long time.
Its so on point with what’s happened & is still happening to our youth.
I pray for this generation of young ppl often.
I pray they have encounters W/real ppl just like the actor who played the Potluck Teacher here & that they are impacted in a way that will change them to want to & strive to, become the change.

    Awesome good discussion.
However as a principal I would not leave a Volunteer alone with the children so long.
A member of staff ought to be there to hear what is said.

    A wonderful video wow

  24. @johneBGood on July 21, 2025 at 12:30 am

A movie worth every second. The youth of our world are dying not because of not enough math, science, reading and writing but from not enough straight talk about what really matters. They have been put down, told to shut up, minimized, demonized, and so much more. Where have they learned about love and acceptance? Not from the media that is for sure! As an ESL teacher, I do my best to let all my students know that they are valued, worthwhile, loved and respected. That they are doing an awesome job in learning. I teach values using the English language as a tool, using life examples for work and day-to-day life. I use my faith as well, because there are some days that go crazy and I need to rely on something bigger than myself to just get out of bed. I will be recommending this video to my students. Thank you for posting it and thank you to the actors, crew and production staff who created this masterpiece.

Most worthwhile movie I have seen in sometime. GOD bless you all for watching. Let us carry forth the ideas of mercy and love. There are many hurtling youth in the world.

This would be a nice short series to see each of the kids lives. Maybe this teacher at the card store could be an unofficial "teacher" or mentor. Maybe he could start a small group where they meet weekly or something.
