Are there jobs Christians can’t do? What does the Bible say about providing for our families? Kevin Smith talks about this viewer’s question today on “Questions Over Coffee.”

Can I honor God as a personal fitness coach?
Doing this Job entails keeping my body fit and looking good whilst training my clients to do the same. Whether it be muscle gain or strength, or fat loss or just cardiovascular fitness.
Is it possible to honor God in this line of work? If so, how?
My worry is this:
1. I feel confident in the fact that I look good from working out. I hope I’m not vain or prideful. I know my confidence should be in Jesus and not me.
2. I don’t want to encourage my clients into a life of self service and vanity/pride or idolatry.
I think this was a difficult question because there are so many jobs out there now. I am still studying at university and trying to help my father with his work (he is a salesman) but I plan to take another path; I’m between being an artist / designer or working for a company. But how can I glorify or honor Jesus with that kind of work?
What about a lawyer

I was so encouraged as I looked through this list of comments! I love to see Christians thinking about their lives not from a selfish or greedy point of view but asking, "What does God want from me? How can I please Him? What will advance His kingdom?"
I study to work in police, forensics or law. It’s a good area where i can fight for the Law of God with my knowledge.

I have had Christians tell me a Christian cannot be a police officer. I am a security Officer. I hold custody of people who threaten to commit suicide. I get the chance to minister to most of them.
