I’m not.
Most UK companies now have 3 month notice periods if at a reasonably high level. Seems to be not so common in the US.
In the UK some firms hold you to a week for every year you have been there – potentially 10 to 12 weeks .
2 Weeks would be a dream !

This is shit advice. The company doesn’t give you a 2 week notice when they fire you. Get a new job offer and dip. You don’t owe anyone anything, especially an employer.
What if I’m offered a position while I haven’t put “two weeks in” just in case I wouldn’t get an offer.

Always act respectfully , after all your former boss is going to be a reference for you. Life is short, your working to live not living to work, get out of your comfort zone and grow, leave the comfort/familiarity of the nest behind, spread your wings and find that prize. Be humble yet optimistic and stay positive . I hope everyone lands their dream job.

After reading a bunch of comments I’m just throw this out there but the 2 week rule is if you DON’T want to burn bridges and screw over your coworkers.
If it’s a terrible work environment with awful people then feel free to walk away as you see fit. Hand in 2 weeks If you potentially want references, or to refer a friend for a position, or possibly a backup job in case the new place doesn’t work out and you know the old place will welcome you back with open arms.
I quit today with an email on the spot after 3 years. They were pissed. Good riddance. Id rather starve than have their agenda on my mind 24/7
This scenario is rarely how it goes when leaving. If you’re a valuable employee they are going to guilt trip you HARD. Be prepared to get some shade and take it with class. It’s actually incredible how everyone’s perception of you will change immediately, even if you are a valued employee.
If they can fire you without notice, you can leave without notice. These companies don’t own you.

My position is as an at will employee I don’t owe my company anything if I’m resigning and they don’t owe me anything if they let me go. I’ve seen people fired for giving two weeks. Sometimes it happens often.

I’m 14 i work in a grocery store and I want to quit. Not because it’s hard or anything but because my co-works are so annoying and the managers are rude to everyone and, the store is disgusting. On top of that they never buy new stuff so we have to use all the old broken carts for stuff.
