Hey Mark, thanks a lot for your articles, your videos and your books, especially basic transformation, it helped to concrete my faith in Jesus, and even helped me to understand who I am as a Christian… Question, I’m in a relationship however I’m still "tied" to my ex, I do not want to be with my ex, but I am constantly being reminded of the past when I see her (I’ve cut off all contact on social media, and now I only see her at the university), the question is, do I have to end my current relationship to be fully healed?

Ps: I’ve told my girlfriend everything and of course she wasn’t happy about it, and now she sees it as something I have to work on…

I’m here looking for your advice exp as to what to do in this situation… Do I have to break up with her to be healed or do I stay while working on my breaking this soul tie… No I’m not transferring my heart from one individual to to another, I know that I have to give my heart to God first, and that’s what I’m actively doing…Anyway, I’d like to know your thoughts about the situation…

My girlfriend left me 4 days before I planned to propose to her.. 4 days before our 1 year. I had such a beautiful engagement ring for her. I, along with my family, was so excited about this.. But She left out of no where. With no explanation. How am I supposed to move on and heal from that… It has tore me apart…

I really want to let it go but recently it seems that it’s harder to do as it seems to be all I dream about. Anything seems to remind me of us even though there were a lot of red flags but I ignored them all and I had no peace during my time with this person. How do I get over her? I want to stop thinking of her

Because of this video, it made me realize how idolatry in my life is pathetic and need some serious repentance, it should be always JESUS a who matters more in ones life and everything else is last.

I’m guilty of this. My ex viewed my kindness as weakness and cheated multiple times. I forgave her every time and stayed because I desperately wanted to believe she was good and we could turn things around. I fell in love with her potential instead of facing reality. We’re no longer together, but To this day I still feel like I made the mistake of leaving and its haunting. Everyday I feel like I abandoned her and I feel this void in myself even though she hurt me… I should be over something this toxic but I’m not.

What if we still love the person we were in a relationship with, and can see it working if we resolve our mistakes and move forward in a better, more  Christ centered relationship?

When you don’t want the relationship to end but it does it leaves us devastated especially for a man that has been single for a long time when he gets a pretty woman that is sweet he feels on top of the world

  26. Faith Brock on May 20, 2022 at 8:47 pm

This is so good! First, thumbs-up on the Lord of the Rings reference. I love both the movie series and the books, and as a writer, I completely agree with your analogy with creating one story that doesn’t replicate itself but rather moves forward into a more complete story! I also love how you talk about focusing on God as our main focal point. I know this doesn’t count as an actual past relationship, but I’ve been trying to get over a crush (I’ve kinda been binge-watching your videos lately) and as I’ve gone through the process, I’ve been realizing that I’ve been putting a fantasized relationship before God. Thankfully, God’s been giving me breakthrough recently, and He’s been helping me learn to be satisfied in the love and value He has for me rather than trying to seek out my own contorted path.
Also, if you’re interested in seeing some cool perspectives of some other awesome Christian series over relationships, I would recommend Ben Stewart’s series called "Single, Dating, Engaged, Married" (https://subsplash.com/breakaway/messages/ms/+be5d482 ) and Timothy Ateek’s two series called "Porn Free" (https://subsplash.com/breakaway/messages/ms/+251c46f) and "Good Sex: What It Is, What It Isn’t, And How to Experience It" (https://subsplash.com/breakaway/messages/ms/+rx5my9v)
Both series take a completely biblical approach on their respective topics and two of them were very influential in God’s rescuing me from sexual immorality.

I agree with you and I receive the future of what God has instore. Let go of the old In the name of Jesus

I’ve been praying for God to help me move forward and to be healed from the hurt and praying for him also.

  30. Valiant Truth on May 20, 2022 at 8:52 pm

So someone is a pharisee cause they’re grieving? First of all, I do NOT agree because the pharisees were attached to the former things because of PRIDE and SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS. They didn’t think they needed Jesus. Even scripture says that they were envious of Jesus and that’s why they wanted him killed. Grief is a process and as a friend once told me, "It’s not necessarily about ‘getting over it,’ but learning to adjust."

Agree with the tech comment. Because this day and age it seems- don’t care what you know or who you know until we/they KNOW how much you CARE. (Pews are full of A lot of those who are full of themselves – less of HOLY SPIRIT) the world will KNOW you ARE MY disciples by the LOVE you HAVE for One another) I haven’t seen love in ⛪ I’ve seen jealousy envy anger bitterness etc

    He is right

  36. Lesli C on May 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Great analogy! It is so important to let God write the story, instead recreating the past. Thank you for making this video! Also, I would encourage you to look into what Jesus was "changing" and what he actually came to do. I know we have all been taught that Jesus came to do away with the law, but as I’ve studied the original wording, I have found the word law means different things in different places in the Bible. The Pharisees were adding to the Torah, but Jesus never broke the Torah. He came restore what was broken, not to replace the Law of Moses.

This might be the greatest help I have got after my breakup… I loved her so much and I was so obsessed with the girl and all that we were but she left me and now I have all these broken things and a broken past but maybe God is making me go further and helping me to cherish him in the present and we’ll the things I enjoyed so much they were truly God given… He did that once he can do something better in the future I guess…. Thankyou so much Matt love from Pakistan
