How Can I Know God's Will? #discernment

Do you feel called to marriage? Maybe you felt a call to become a priest or religious? But what if you are not accepted into the seminary? Or what if your relationship ends abruptly instead of in marriage?

Today, Fr. Mark-Mary explores the reality that sometimes God’s will and our desires may not align and how to navigate those frustrations when they arise.

Thank you for this Fr. Mike-Mary. This will help me discernment my vocation.

  2. @tinakelly4497 on August 23, 2025 at 12:24 am

This explanation made A LOT of sense. It was very clear to me. Thank you for helping me to see how God’s Will works in my life now and has worked in my life for many years!! Peace & Blessings to all of you!!

  3. @Multijoe84 on August 23, 2025 at 12:24 am

I have been there. I have now lost my faith after multiple disappointments in life.

  4. @Elizabeth-mp6tr on August 23, 2025 at 12:24 am

Thank you! Thank you! I didnt quite know about "closed doors!" I need more of this. Thank you.

I’m at the end of my rope. Jobless. No one is hiring. Going to lose everything. I’ve begged for help and guidance. Nothing. Losing hope. I do at least 3 rosaries a day, a 7 sorrows and the 12year novena st Bridget prayer minimum. Sometimes I feel like I’m talking to a wall.

  6. @jcattnc on August 23, 2025 at 12:27 am

    Tremendously helpful. Much appreciated!

  7. @recipeformiracle on August 23, 2025 at 12:27 am

Thank you father Mark-Mary, but I am still incredibly confused. From my experience I live in a world of only CLOSED doors. Every time I try a new road there is a massive wall blocking everything and it’s so tiring and frustrating.
It’s been 30 years I have asked for a good husband because I feel the calling to be a wife, and yet I am still on my own. I have been also praying to discern my professional life as I have a couple of independent projects I would love to work on (one being a catholic YouTube channel) but at the same time I am overwhelmed as I am no tech expert, I haven’t got the skills to edit, I should buy equipment and stuff, but in my head I can already see the finished product.
I have been asking help to the Lord for sending me a work partner that can help me develop that, but still nothing has happened and I feel like I am constantly wasting precious time trying to figure all out. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks for the video.

Trying to understand God’s will has been one of the most challenging things in my spiritual life. I didn’t think it would ever be possible to truly figure out God’s will for me in much of anything. And yet, when I learned about my current job being open, I was so sure I wanted to do it that it must be God’s will. ‘When you know you know,’ is very cliché, but I think there might be some truth to it.

  9. @AnnJo24224 on August 23, 2025 at 12:28 am

How about if God doesnt open any door but you cant stay where you are?

  10. @olga4989 on August 23, 2025 at 12:28 am

Thank you so much! Thank you for preparing this forcis.

  11. @sandrinealves3154 on August 23, 2025 at 12:28 am

Thank you so much. Very timely video: we have to act but always trust in Providence, ultimately

  12. @EncircleTheYear on August 23, 2025 at 12:29 am

It’s not always about vocation. What about discerning things like buying a house or looking a new job or making an investment? These are huge decisions that can be life-changing for good or for ill. Some of us have families to think of. My decisions affect other people.

  13. @bielsabas4407 on August 23, 2025 at 12:32 am

    incredibly timelyyyyyy!!!

  14. @Tara_thatonegirl on August 23, 2025 at 12:35 am

This has helped me IMMENSELY today.

  15. @Pugslover on August 23, 2025 at 12:38 am

What happens if I reject God’s will, let’s say I feel called to move to a city and I get a job, but then I reject the job offer? Does God find a new way? Or does he just give my blessing to someone else? Thanks!

  16. @1119nj on August 23, 2025 at 12:38 am

Sometimes, I honestly feel like I am interfering with God’s plan for me. Then I wonder if He is getting frustrated with me.

  17. @willrobinson4089 on August 23, 2025 at 12:38 am

More than 5yrs after having one door closed, still waiting for Christ’s promises to be kept.
Seems God has His favourites and damns the rest

  18. @marielleramirezPH on August 23, 2025 at 12:40 am

It’s helpful, thank you so much.

  20. @trudiswanson9855 on August 23, 2025 at 12:41 am

Ugh huh, it must work out for some.

  21. @puzz88 on August 23, 2025 at 12:42 am

Your will be done and not my own, Lord ❤ Its been hard lately, but Jesus, I trust in You ❤ From the desire to be approved, deliver me Jesus..

  22. @matheuspinho4987 on August 23, 2025 at 12:42 am

Saint Rita of Cascia heard uncoutable "no"s from people of authority over her during her life, yet she became what she always wanted at the end

Saint Thomas Aquina’s parents denied him the wish to become a dominican monk, yet he became one of the greatest of them

I believe that the answer is this: it’s a mystery which we can only trust but never trully know for certain, otherwise it wound’t be trust, but a good guess if what gives Glory to God is He’s will in your life

  23. @DrummerLittleBrother on August 23, 2025 at 12:43 am

I want to be married. But since it hasn’t happened yet, I’m starting to wonder if it’s God’s will at all. Not knowing is agony.

  24. @1HeartiouLovesJesus on August 23, 2025 at 12:44 am

Everyone, please pray for me I’ve been struggling to stop sinning and I’ve been experiencing hard time, anxieties, and anxious.

  27. @KittyM- on August 23, 2025 at 12:46 am

Brilliant insight: God shepherds us mostly by closed doors. Thank you!

  28. @rincymathew218 on August 23, 2025 at 12:47 am

I came back to watch this again and I was blessed again by the message! Thanks Fr Mark Mary!

Oh I’ve got a question: what do you say at the end of your videos? Poco poco and what? What language is it? Thanks!

  32. @okbro00 on August 23, 2025 at 12:55 am

I feel called to become a monk but I really don’t want to become a monk
I wanna be with my family and help them

I don’t want to leave them alone behind

    What it’s going on

  33. @Stape_Playshion on August 23, 2025 at 12:59 am

    Amen!

  34. @nathaniel5261 on August 23, 2025 at 12:59 am

By him actually coming down and just talking to us like an actually existing loving god could and would, so that theres no ambiguity.
Theres no excuse for him NOT to… well… other than him not existing of course.

  35. @Angelface1981 on August 23, 2025 at 1:00 am

God put me in a homeless shelter!! Love!

  36. @Rich-wi7dn on August 23, 2025 at 1:01 am

I’ve never felt called to do or be anything – things have just rolled along and happened. Perhaps I’m just missing it.

  37. @c.t.m.bentler on August 23, 2025 at 1:02 am

What about the scenarios when you’re told to wait. Is a “not yet” the same as a “no”?

  38. @coeurcorazon9949 on August 23, 2025 at 1:07 am

Chat I think God is calling my to Catholicism. Pray He guides me.

  39. @vivroman9752 on August 23, 2025 at 1:13 am

  40. @unapequeñaalma on August 23, 2025 at 1:13 am

Thank you so much Father Mark for this reflection. I’ve felt the call to religious life and to a certain Order, and was rejected twice and felt really bad about it. And now I’m not sure if that is what God really wants for me. I’m still walking and trusting.

  41. @candiced4826 on August 23, 2025 at 1:15 am

Could you please provide some references on this topic, Father? Be it scripture or catechism or a some books. This explanation left me feeling a bit confused

  42. @maryoary3195 on August 23, 2025 at 1:15 am

    May God Bless ❤
