This is giving me such a broader understanding of these scriptures. In particular, when other God names are mentioned such as Asherah, the Goddess of Nature and fertility. I never knew about Goddess mentioned in the Bible. I understood that there was only one true God. But apparently, there were many other Gods. Not false ones, but heavenly ones. When I researched about this Goddess, I was stunned how powerful and mighty she was. How she was worshipped alongside God or “Yahweh”. How she was viewed as the Queen of Heaven. As a Christian, I understand that my religion or most religions are very patriarchal, at least that’s how I feel. However, it peaks my interest why this Goddess was stripped from most the Bible. How different the world could’ve been if this powerful celestial being were celebrated semi-equal to God. Can you imagine? A Male and Female being ruling the heavens? Like a husband and Wife holy union?

As I’m listening to this, I’m realizing how I’m basically doing the same thing as the Israelites. Asking for God to help me get to my Promised Land, but, the minute hardship comes, I start losing my mind and reminiscing. Hardship happens for a reason! Keeping a humble heart and learning from what’s going on is such an important part of the process. ✨
